Sculptures on the Square

In an effort to nurture the arts and provide a community experience for local residents and tourists alike, the Auburn Arts Commission, Inc. is presenting “Sculptures on the Square” for three months during the summer of 2007.

There sculptures are the works of J. Seward Johnson, an American sculptor whose uncannily realistic figures capture everyday human gestures. Johnson’s life-size cast-bronze statures have been featured in private collections and museum throughout the world.

The Arts Commission is asking for your support in bringing this world class exhibit to our community. The impact of this exhibit will generate community pride, foster the arts, and encourage tourism to the area.

Sculptures on the Square will begin with education components for school children and adults in the spring of 2007.

The appreciation of the arts and humanities created through this exhibit for both children and adults plus the positive economic impact on the community make this family-friendly exhibition an outstanding event for DeKalb County.

The Sculpture Foundation retains copyright ownership of Seward Johnson's sculptures. In general, any photographic images taken of the sculptures may not be used for commercial purposes. If a party desires to use such images, each request must be submitted to The Sculpture Foundation for approval. If approved, it may be possible to create a mutual arrangement to go forward with a project. If this becomes the case, the image choice, the design, the range of commercial sales, and a copyright statement to cover the works would need to be reviewed, approved of and signed off by The Foundation as the copyright holders.
